Meet the untied team! This week we talk to Dan Andrew, Frontend Software Engineer about what he does, what it’s like working at untied and what he’d do if he won the lottery…
What you do and how does this help users?
Together with the rest of the tech team, I connect up the website and take the designs from the UX team and make them into reality!
How long have you been at untied?
I started at the beginning of 2021
What made you want to work in a start up?
I liked the idea of getting stuck into all the aspects of the business and being an important cog in the full workings of the start-up machine
What are your favourite things about working at untied?
Innovative tech is where we need to be going as a society and untied is at the very forefront of that. Plus, knowing everyone on the team and being able to work on a few different levels of the tech stack is brilliant.
How did you get into software engineering?
I worked in education for a number of years and then I decided to change career path to software engineering after discussing ideas with friends. The Flatiron School seemed like a great route into this new role and my studies there have taken me from having pretty much no coding skills a year ago to being able to do full stack engineering right now. Plus it was great fun doing all that learning and growing along the way!
What is it like working at untied compared to working in an established business?
This is my first job after altering career path, so it’s very different! I’m loving the change of direction so far.
What was your first job?
Working in a small corner shop in Devon!
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Get myself and my partner good and secure, then go travelling with her!
What is the last picture/photo you took?
Picture of a sleeping collared dove that’s nesting on the balcony not a metre away from me.
