In this role, Jonathan will help ensure untied’s offering is at the leading edge of tax transformation. By making sure the untied app is clearly understandable for users, Jonathan will help to support the business’ partners and make taxes simpler for the 12 million people that need to fill in a tax return every year.

Before joining untied, Jonathan worked at HMRC for 32 years including as Inspector of Taxes. Most recently he was HMRC Tax Technical Risk Lead and a member of the HMRC national project board responsible for the strategic direction of corporation tax and income tax technical risk within the individuals and small business compliance sector. Jonathan led a network of risk specialists across the UK and contributed to HMRC COVID-19 response activities. He has a deep interest in tax simplification and automation and a Masters in Taxation.

Jonathan has also been a business mentor for The Prince’s Trust, supporting unemployed individuals whilst looking for work and also helping new businesses navigate through the complexities of starting up in business and gain access to available funding.

Jonathan Yeomans, tax specialist at untied, said: “It’s the right moment to join untied and to use my tax experience to help people from a fresh perspective. untied is a perfect fit – it’s a creative, progressive business that works at the cutting edge of taxes. I can see from the very start that working in such a fast-moving environment provides a great opportunity to accelerate change more quickly than traditional organisation in this sector. The government’s vision for the future of tax relies on technology and innovation and I’m tremendously excited to be now sitting on the other side of the table, still doing what I love.”

Kevin Sefton, CEO at untied, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Jonathan to drive our tax capability. Jon lives and breathes taxes and has a wealth of experience in tax tech which is invaluable to the business with the growing emphasis on digital. He has extensive tax know-how from his time at HMRC and understands how government policies and procedures work. We’re pleased to be making another outstanding appointment just a few weeks after welcoming Paul Loberman, who had been global head of digital for business banking at HSBC. It’s an exciting time to be working at untied and we welcome Jon to the team.”

Jonathan lives in North Wales with his family.
